Watch the News

When I am on vacation, I never consider switching on the TV. However, on my last trip, when is switch the TV on, I am glad I did. For me, it was a  good way of getting a feel for the place. It is an interesting way of knowing about the events happening in the area and, of course, the weather.

Strolling around the place is the perfect way to discover or see the sights. What is more, if you are walking, you are saving a little bit amount of money on transportation and parking as well.

Picnic at a Park

One must-do activity during your vacation is a picnic at a park. Look for a scenic part, or an area for great people watching. You can bring sandwiches or easy to prepare foods. If you are staying at a hotel that offered free breakfast, pack it to go for a changing atmosphere. You can check out nearby parks for fun and free entertainment. Your kids will surely love this activity, and for adults alike, it will help you relax and unwind.

Look for a Festival

Each place celebrates its own fairs and festivals. Depending on the place you spend your vacation, you are able to look for festivals based around art food, music, as well as outdoor activities.  In the US, most especially in Chicago, there are lots of festivals happening during fall and summer-like Greek Festival and Italian Festival.

Relax and Unwind at the Beach

Search for a beach nearby for some relaxation and fun. Your little ones will surely enjoy playing in the white sand and getting seashells. You can exercise walking the seashore and experience the cold, fresh air. You can swim or engage in sports, like beach volleyball.

Look for museums in the area to know some information about the history of the place. Popular museums provide days and times you are able to come inside for free. However, a lot of smaller ones provide free entry.

Visit Farmer’s Market

My vacation is not complete without going to a farmer’s market. This is my favorite thing to do when traveling. You are able to see the unique vegetables, fruits as well as other products from the area. What is more,  a lot of vendors provide samples and free tasting of their offers. You can get a sample of wine, chocolate, and coffee for free, and some offer free accessories and native bags. You can ask the locals about the nearest farmer’s market in the area.

Talk to Locals: By discussing with locals is totally fun and exciting to do. You are able to know what it is like to live in that place. Talking to locals is also the superb way of finding cheap places to eat as well as other inexpensive hidden gems.

Play Games

You are not old enough to play a game on your vacation. While on the road, bring your preferred games for fun. It doesn’t matter if it is a basketball or volleyball, if you find a place to play, at least you are ready.
