Fishing is one of the most popular sports around the globe. Many people would be surprised to learn just how many people are engaged in some form of fishing all day, every day. In fact, the United States alone spends more than $8 billion on fishing per year, with millions of people fishing regularly—not to mention the total number of people who enjoy the sport of fishing on a recreational level.

There are thousands of fishing spots around the world, but only a few are known as the best. Here are some:

The Pacific Ocean

The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the world's oceanic divisions, surrounding the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific. It is also one of the five divisions of the Earth's oceans. It covers an area of about 71 million square kilometres (28 million square miles). It is enclosed by Asia to the east, North America and the Caribbean to the north, and Australia to the south. Most of us fish here, either by boat or a boat. It’s the largest body of water in the world, with many species of fish.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the wonders of the world. With over 3000 individual reefs, and millions of tropical fish, and over 400 species of birds, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most amazing places to see our beautiful planet. The reef is home to many species of fish, including the 4-metre-long, 3-kilogram coral trout and the 1,500 kilograms (3,300lb) Pacific giant trevally. Larger than a horse, the trevally is a prized catch, particularly by the commercial and recreational fishing industry. The Great Barrier Reef is in the Coral Sea, which is Australia’s largest sea. It’s one of the world's most diverse ecosystems and home to thousands of fish species.

The Gulf of Mexico

Would you believe it that the Gulf of Mexico is an incredible place for fishing? It is also an incredibly popular place for tourists to visit and even for leisure and recreational activities like sport fishing, bird watching, and hiking. And, there is a lot of history in the gulf that has been lost in the depths of time. The Gulf of Mexico is the largest of the world's oceanic bodies of water. It is located in the Western Hemisphere in the North Central region of the North American continent. It is located between the states of Texas and Louisiana and from the Atlantic Ocean to the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Key West, Florida

Fishing is an activity that can be done in many ways. In the warmer months, people can fish in rivers, lakes, or even the ocean. During the colder months, people can fish in streams, ponds, and even rivers. The sport of fishing can be done in many places around the world. One place that many people may not know about is Key West, Florida. The island of Key West is located in the Gulf of Mexico and is part of the Florida Keys. This island is well known for its fishing.

Orkney Islands, Scotland

The Orkney Islands are located in the Northern Ocean, about 105 miles west of the Scottish mainland. They are the largest of the Orkney Islands, but they are also the largest island in the British Isles and one of the largest in the world. The islands are a popular tourist destination, and they're home to numerous seabird colonies, as well as World Heritage-listed coastal scenery. The islands are also home to a handful of the best fishing spots in the world, and it's there you'll find the spectacular scenery that draws anglers from around the world.

The number of people who travel to visit the world's best fishing spots is growing every year. Some people want to catch some big and colourful species in the wild, while others want to experience the local culture and lifestyle of the country they are fishing.
