The magic of Budapest is one of the largest cities in Europe, with around 1 million residents. Not just that, but it is also a border city of the entire European Union. Over time, Budapest has evolved into a modern city with a vibrant nightlife. One of the most popular tourist destinations on the continent, Budapest is a place of contrasts. While buildings and streets in the city center can be just as old as the country itself, modern apartment buildings and public transport are constantly being built. So while old houses and buildings are being taken down to make way for new buildings, the city continues to grow.
The most notable thing about Budapest is its history. As the capital of Hungary, Budapest has always been a hot spot for important events and have been a home to many notable figures throughout history, including the likes of famous Hungarian poets. Here are some of the most beautiful sights in Budapest.
Hero’s Square
Heroes’ Square is a place that all Hungarians go to when they want to feel happy and proud. The Square is in Budapest’s middle district, in the neighborhood of Újbuda – that is to say between Margit Bridge and Széchenyi Chain Bridge. In the middle of the Square, you will find the statue of Janos Hunyadi, one of the national heroes, and next to it, the statue of the painter Lajos Kossuth, who was Hungary’s first president.
Buda Castle Hill Funicular
The funicular, officially called the Kápolna railway, enters the Buda Castle museum via a tunnel. It is the only way to get to the top of the hill. It was built by the company Lánchídvédő (English: Budafast, a company created in 1870 that operated the funicular line) in 1883. The unique system of rails and cables allows you to ascend between 1.5 and 4.5 meters, depending on how many people are riding the funicular at the same time.
Széchenyi Thermal Baths
The thermal baths of Budapest are like a temple, a place to escape the stress of everyday life, to disconnect from the world, and to rest your body and mind. With more than 30 natural spa baths, the thermal baths are a mix of tradition and modernity. Even the most experienced spa visitor will never see the same bath twice, as the different water temperature sources change the bathwater, creating unique natural effects.
Danube River
The Danube River is a real treasure of Europe. The river flows through the country of Hungary and makes it one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. It’s not only a famous river but also a delicious place to spend time. The river can be seen from a variety of places because of the beautiful landscape.
Budapest is a city known for its architectural beauty and the Danube river. It is also one of the most visited cities in Europe and has one of the highest densities of bars per person, which is mostly due to the fact that there are so many colleges and universities located here. From the best view of the Danube to the best view of the city—The magic of Budapest is unique, and it’s all available in one place.
Budapest is a city that transcends the ordinary. It is a place of magic, where the “ordinary” never happens. At least, not in the way most people would expect. Whether you’re out on a night-time stroll, take a ride on the world’s largest Ferris wheel, or have an evening stroll on the banks of the Danube, Budapest has plenty to offer to satisfy all types of travelers.
