Back for Blood is a first-person shooter game that has players fighting for their life against hordes of zombies. Developed by turtle rock Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Back 4 Blood focuses on co-op gameplay and has a focus on multiplayer and replayability. The game was originally conceived as a way similar to Left 4 Dead, but it quickly evolved into something much larger.
The game is a survival horror game that takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth where zombies and other monsters roam the world looking for you, and the only way to survive is to work as a team. Players will face huge hordes of enemies, and some will require more than others. This game was released on October 12, 2021, on various gaming platforms such as Xbox Series, PlayStation, as well as on Windows.
The Gameplay
Like what we have mentioned above, Back 4 Blood is like the successor of the game, Left 4 Dead. Well, having the same game developers, you definitely see the similarities between these two games. Back 4 Blood is a somewhat fun and unique multiplayer zombie survival game that has players work together to survive the onslaught of the ‘Ridden.’
You can play solo or with a friend, and there are five unique characters to choose from that each has its own unique abilities. The campaign you’ll work through is a brilliant B-movie, with fantastic set-piece moments that you’ll want to show anyone who’s yet to play them.
Sure, you can fight endless waves of zombies, but at some point, you will want to explore the world and find new weapons and gear. The game is pretty huge and will take a while to get through, so it makes sense to add a simple way of saving your progress. This is where the “Save Points” come in.
Take note of the deck-building card system and individual cards. These cards can help you alter your stats before the start of the game, boost your stamina and your ammunition carrying capacity. These cards may seem like an ordinary feature for you, but you better make use of it, especially on missions that are difficult level – way beyond the novice stage.
What are the things that we like in this game?
-
Exciting co-op action with your teammates
-
Great game visuals. Turtle Rock has made the game environments to be accentuated with colors – the lighting in the animation truly deserves an honorable mention.
-
Excellent PC compatibility. Back 4 Blood game can run on PC desktop computers without worrying you about the hitch.
-
Game weapons are great to use and have good feedback when it is fired.
-
Excellent first-person shooting mechanics.
The Cons
-
Unfulfilling solo play. You might like solo play, but having few restrictions with this mode, you’ll just end up getting annoyed and having some frustrations.
-
Unpleasant enemy spawning. Clearing a room off enemies might call for a celebratory dance, but Turtle Rock thought that’s so much for you. So, the frustrating part here is the spawning of a special ride. What’s even annoying is that there are no cue or even sound that will signify the monster’s presence. Without you knowing, you have been attacked and killed by that monster. Truly unsatisfying.
-
Repetitive game locations
-
Few PvP modes
Back 4 Blood or is it Goodbye Forever?
Overall, we can say that Back 4 Blood is a good game for those players who are into the same game genre or thrills like Left 4 Dead. However, no matter how great the environment, the unique game features, and the exciting cooperative action you may or may not have with your teammates, it seems that this game is still half-baked compared to other video games. It is like it was executed just for the sake of making a submission over time.
Aside from the mediocre game, we believe that there’s always room for improvement, given that the game is just in its early stage. So, who knows Turtle rock is cooking something special for us? If there is, we’ll be looking forward to it.
