At the time, Laura Miele, EA’s chief studio officer, confirmed that the team is hard at work on the next generation of the Sims experience. While there have not been many fanfares about when the new game is headed out to enthusiastic Sims fans and followers everywhere, we can say rest easy knowing there Is something coming down the line. After all, it’s easier to wait if you know you have something to look forward to!
When is the release date?
The Sims 5 was unveiled at Maxis and Electronic Arts’ The Sim Summit event on October 18, 2022. That’s extremely thrilling news, particularly as there have been numerous rumors and speculations on the new addition to the franchise.
During the event, Lyndsay Pearson, VP of the Franchise Creative for the Sims, confirmed that the upcoming core game of the franchise is currently in development.
There’s still no confirmed release date for The Sims 5. Unluckily, it might be quite some time before you hear about when you can buy the next title. As of March 2022, there are some crucial pieces of information about what you can expect from the next iteration of the famous simulation game.
As far as we know, The Sims 5 may include multiplayer elements. It could also include more social interaction and competition.
What can you expect?
The game is still in its development phase, but there has been a selection of confirmed features of The Sims 5 that you can look forward to. These include the following:
- Potential for the game to be played on multiple devices
- The collaborative mode enables Simmers to share their own creations with other players
- Multiplayer mode
- The Sims 3’s color wheel is making a comeback to customize furniture patterns
- Furniture such as beds can be edited to alter the headboard, pattern, bedspread color, shape, and the design of the footboard independently
It is currently in its early days. You can find that some of those features are scrapped, and more features are yet to be officially announced.
What’s the reason it’s called Project Rene?
Pearson mentioned why their team chose the working title Project Rene. They explained that the phrase is reminiscent of words such as rebirth, renaissance, and renewal, and it symbolizes their renewed commitment to The Sims.
