You could do so much when the rain isn’t pouring outside, or the snow doesn’t give you frostbite. To me, summer signifies freedom and fun and evokes the young soul in me, which is why I like to do really cool activities during this time of the year. You can do a lot like go to the beach and rave parties, play sports like volleyball, go on summer vacation somewhere, and the list goes on and on. One activity, however, caught my attention, and it’s become a trend for a lot of people. What activity is it? It’s called Standup Paddling.
Now I know, for a lot of us, this term is new, and we haven’t heard of it before. But it’s been gaining a lot of popularity over the years, and I think it will still gain popularity over time. Even famous celebrities such as Tom Brandy, Cindy Crawford, Ben Harper, Jennifer Garner, and Kate Hudson have been seen doing this unique sport. It would help if you tried it for yourself sometime.
Why Is It So Trendy?
The increase of popularity of standup paddling has been in full throttle as many people become more interested in one of the trendiest and newest paddle sports on the block. In the standup paddle board market, there has been a noticeable increase in sales of inflatable paddle boards since 2016, as Light has reported an increase in sales around 40% compared to the previous years. It has been becoming popular every year.
Why do a lot of people like it?
Well first off, if you aren’t a surfing expert, you could get the same joy of using a surfboard with stand up paddling. For those who can and can’t surf the waves in the ocean, stand up paddling enables them to feel as if they’ve been surfing too with a surfboard-like board. In standup paddling, you use a paddle to maneuver yourself through the water.
If you are afraid of the high waves surfing usually requires, paddle boarding might be the perfect one for you because you only have to use this in still water, such as some rivers and lakes. Stand up paddling also helps you calm your mind as you relax while you are drifting through the water. It’s like paddling on a boat, but you have to stand up to paddle, and your line of sight will see more of the water instead of the boat you are in. Stand up paddling is also popular for the work out enthusiasts. Paddle board exercises all parts of the body, and you could develop a good balance. When paddling, be sure to wear a leash or bring a paddling buddy with you.

I think a standup paddling is one of the best activities you could do if you’re looking for something new, adventurous, but relaxing at the same time.
